Beginner Division Summer Program Session Dates:

(July 1st – August 9th) 6 weeks

Location: Alma Dance School (999 N Main Street, Suite 108 Glen Ellyn, IL 60137)

Schedule: Dancers in the Beginner level will have classes on Mondays and Tuesdays from 10am-3:30pm and Thursdays and Fridays from 10am-4:30pm. Dancers will have a 45-minute lunch break each day from 12:45 to 1:30pm. Students at this level in the pre-professional division are required to participate in 4 full weeks of Alma Dance School summer intensive program. If they wish, students may also choose to attend 5 full weeks or the 6 full weeks program. It is recommended that the 4 weeks of classes are taken consecutively, but this is not mandatory. Curriculum: The intensive curriculum for this level includes Ballet Technique, Conditioning, Pre-Pointe, Variations, Contemporary/Modern, Jazz and Acting.

Class Attire for Ballet:

Girls: Black leotard, pink tights, and pink slippers

Boys: White t-shirt, black tights, white socks, and white ballet slippers

Conditioning: Same attire as ballet class is required. Dance shorts may be worn. Please, no pants as the teacher needs to see the legs. For conditioning class, students will need a mat and a theraband. Ages 9-10 will need a 1-pound ankle weight. Ages 11 & up will need two 2-pound ankle weights. Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced levels will need a small foam roller at least 18 inches long.

Contemporary/Modern/Jazz: Same attire as ballet class is required. Dance shorts may be worn. Please, no pants as the teacher needs to be able to see the dancer’s legs.

Intermediate and Advanced Summer Program Session Dates:

(July 1st – August 9th) 6 weeks

Location: Alma Dance School (999 N Main Street, Suite 108 Glen Ellyn, IL 60137)

Schedule: Classes for Intermediate Level will be held Monday-Friday from 10:00am-4:30pm. Students are required to participate in 5 full weeks of the summer intensive, they may also choose to attend the full 6-week program. It is recommended that dancers take the 5 weeks of class consecutively, but it is not mandatory.

At the discretion of the directors, some of the dancers in this level may be invited to join some of the advanced level classes on certain days. This will not affect their schedule in any way as both intermediate and advanced level classes run at the same time. Please note, that not all dancers will be asked to join these classes, only the dancers which the directors consider technically ready will be individually asked to join. The safety and well-being of each dancer is our top priority; therefore, we cannot rush any dancer into something they are not yet ready for. Each dancer progresses at a different pace, therefore it is important to be patient with the training and what is best for each dancer as an individual.
