(Naperville, IL, Oct. 1, 2015) -- As initiatives in DuPage County are underway to strengthen the presence of arts in the area, two leaders in the arts community announce a new performance partnership for a special Halloween event.
The DuPage Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Barbara Schubert, is one of the area’s leading orchestras and Alma Dance School, under the direction of
Guillermo Leyva and Vilma Machin, is the Chicago area’s leading professional classical ballet school based on the Cuban method of dance. The two arts leaders are combining their talents to perform an exciting Halloween concert as part of an outreach program to inspire a new generation of appreciation for the arts.
"Part of our mission is to bring professional level arts experiences to families in the local community. We are excited to partner with the DuPage Symphony Orchestra and showcase the incredible talents of the musicians and dancers together for this performance," explains Leyva.
Two performances are scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 31, at 10:30 am and 12:30 pm at Wentz Concert Hall, North Central College, 171 E. Chicago Ave., Naperville, IL60540.
Audience members will be treated to some of the most famous family friendly Halloween music of all time: Mussorgsky’s Night on Bald Mountain, Saint Saen’s Dance macabre, and Berlioz’s March to the Scaffold, and more, with a highlight performance featuring ballet dancers from Alma Dance School.
“Not only do we want to introduce symphonic music and ballet to families with young children, we thought this would be a great opportunity to create an alternative to the day’s candy-laden festivities,” explains Jennifer Fair Margraf, Executive Director of DuPage Symphony Orchestra. “The orchestra members will be dressing up too to add to the fun. Audience members are encouraged to come in costume as well.”
Ticket prices are being kept to a minimum for this community outreach event to make it affordable for families. Prices are $5 per child and $13/10 for adults. A pre-sale group discount of 25% off is available for groups of 10 or more, and must be purchased in advance by October 22, 2015. All event tickets can be purchased through the DSO website at www.dupagesymphony.org, and through the North Central College Box Office by calling 630-637-SHOW (7469).
